CORNWALL – With the LNAH playoffs fast approaching the River Kings have made a change to their coaching staff.

Rookie head coach Oliver Filion has been replaced with Bob Desjardins, a highly respected veteran bench boss.

Even though the team has improved recently, general manager Rick Lalonde feels the team has much more potential.

Cornwall currently sits at a tie for seventh with the Laval Predateurs.

Since Desjardins’ services recently became available when he left the Saint-Georges organization, it was the best move for the team.

“We felt it was a great opportunity to bring in a coach with experience with the playoffs quickly approaching and with Bob being available, we felt we needed to make this move right away,” said Lalonde.

The King’s owner Steve Moreau stands behind his general manager and says “This is what’s best for our hockey team moving forward.”

On Saturday at 7:30 p.m. the River Kings will face the Trois-Rivieres Blizzard to the Civic Complex.
