CORNWALL – It looks like a Cornwall family will have to dismantle at least a portion of their outdoor hockey rink on their front lawn.
The Vincent family on Monaco Crescent received a notice from the city’s bylaw department Monday about their rink saying it obstructs the right-of-way.
Mayor Leslie O’Shaughnessy and Coun. David Murphy met with the family Tuesday morning.
They will be allowed to keep the ice but the rink boards have to go because they’re an obstruction of the right-of-way, saying the city’s bylaw department, and could be a liability issue.
The Vincent family has until Jan. 5, 2015 to comply.
The move by the city went viral on social media with many speaking out against the move.
Coun. Murphy had open for a happy medium but it appears that won’t be happening.
The city issued the order after receiving complaints.
