CORNWALL – With weather conditions like today (Wednesday), Cornwall Transit drivers’ skills are put to the test.

It would only seem fitting that on the morning of a snowstorm, city officials recognized drivers with certificates and pins for long service, safe driving and safe working records.

A transit driver in Cornwall puts on about 40,000 kilometers a year – more than twice the average motorist.

The safe driving criteria is recognized by Ontario Safety League and Canadian Urban Transit Association standards.

Those drivers that received long service awards were:

  • Derek Sheppard, 20 years
  • Marc Brisson, 20 years
  • Todd Lalonde, 20 years
  • Scott Whittaker, 15 years
  • Claire Lebrun, 10 years
