SOUTH MOUNTAIN – Some big upgrades are coming to the Mountain Township Agricultural Hall, southwest of Winchester.
The site of the South Mountain Fair, which had its 123rd edition this summer, has received an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant for $88,000.
The grant will help pay for new furnaces, a water filtration system, water heaters plus accessible washrooms and door entrances.
But the hard work is just beginning for the Mountain Township Agricultural Society.
The society is selling off some of the land at the site on Lough Road for residential lots to help raise the matching funds.
It’s also going to be fundraising and going to businesses and people in the community in order to raise money.
“With the held of this Trillium grant and the generosity of our local community, the Society will be able to focus their efforts on preserving and promoting our region’s agricultural heritage and providing and area’s residents with a state-of-the-art, welcoming and accessible gathering place,” said MPP Jim McDonell.
