CORNWALL, Ont. – Local MP Guy Lauzon will have some more work on Parliament Hill as a member of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.

Lauzon starts his new appointment this week with meetings today and Thursday. “Justice issues have been some of the most interesting and important issues that I have worked on in Ottawa since becoming a Member of Parliament,” said Lauzon.

The MP has already had political progress in the legal arena. In 2012, Lauzon sponsored a private members bill, redirecting the proceeds from lawsuits filed by criminals while they’re in jail to the victims and the families of the criminal. That bill still has to be debated at the Senate legal and constitutional affairs committee this fall.
