Update 9:25 p.m. Saturday: The rainfall warning has ended.
CORNWALL – A rainfall warning is in effect for the Cornwall area.
Environment Canada issued the yellow coded warning just after 12 p.m. Saturday, calling for 20-30 millimeters (0.80-1.2 inches) of rain this afternoon and tonight.
There could possibly be higher rainfall amounts in isolated thunderstorms.
“The rain combined with mild temperatures will likely melt much of the significant snowpack and lead to additional runoff. The rain will taper to light showers this evening,” the agency said.
The region’s conservation authorities have already sounded the alert this week about the possibility of nuisance flooding in low-lying areas.
