Results of Easter OPP seat belt blitz

SMITHS FALLS – Ontario Provincial Police say they issued 101 tickets for people not wearing their seat belt on Eastern Ontario highways.

The results of the Easter enforcement blitz were released Wednesday and show 957 speeding tickets were issued along with more than 20 for stunt driving or racing.

Officers were focusing on seat belt compliance during the long weekend.

There were 25 impaired driving and 23 distracted driving charges also laid.

Across Ontario, the four-day campaign resulted in 1,200 seat belt charges and 6,400 fines for speeding.
