SD&G – Environment Canada says a “prolonged” period of freezing rain will blanket the area tonight and continue overnight.

A freezing rain warning is in effect for Cornwall and SD&G with a “significant ice buildup” expected – up to 10 millimeters (0.4 inches).

The area has had light flurries but it will change to freezing rain tonight and will “last for many hours” before tapering off Thursday morning.

St. Lawrence College is already wrapping up classes, labs and activities at its Cornwall and Brockville campuses by 4:30 p.m. given the impending weather.
