Email to the Editor: Temporary solution for homeless situation

The tragedy of Ms. Hebert’s needless death makes it clear that there is no more time for political dithering in finding a home for the homeless. Snow has already fallen. Canada and Cornwall are in the midst of a “national housing emergency,” and locally the politicians are missing a place of temporary refuge in plain sight – the Cornwall Armoury.

The Armoury was built in 1938 not only to serve the military, but as the Honourable Lionel Chevrier said, a “Community Centre.” The underused Armoury was constructed to be used by the community in emergencies, why not use it now?
