SD&G – North Dundas Mayor Tony Fraser will be the warden of the United Counties of SD&G for the upcoming year.

Fraser was acclaimed as 2023 warden during a special council meeting this morning (Monday), which lasted all of five minutes.

He was nominated by Coun. Jamie MacDonald (North Glengarry), which was seconded by Coun. Frank Landry (North Stormont).

“I wish to express (to) all of council my commitment to serve as the warden for the upcoming term to the best of my ability, to serve fairly, honestly and with integrity,” he said.

Fraser says he will be working to build a relationship with county staff – many of whom he doesn’t have a relationship with and, in turn, “know me lightly.”

In congratulating Fraser, Coun. Bryan McGillis (South Stormont) said he thought about running for warden but his township staff “educated me and told me how busy I will be in this year and in this term.”

Fraser will be officially sworn in at the next meeting on Dec. 2.
