MOOSE CREEK – North Stormont will receive its latest payment today from GFL Environmental for a new sports facility.
Dignitaries will gather in Moose Creek this afternoon to receive a $500,000 donation from the operator of the Lefleche landfill.
The money is part of a 20-year agreement reached last year (2021) between the township and GFL after the previous 20-year agreement was about to expire.
The deal includes $1.26 million in community benefits.
This will be the first of two $500,000 payments for the future Moose Creek Recreation Facility.
Two payments of $130,000 each are expected in 2024 for fire department vehicles in Finch and Crysler.
“GFL has again made direct, and generous, financial contributions, in the form of public donations, to solidify their commitment to North Stormont residents,” the township said in a statement.
