CORNWALL – Local MP Eric Duncan is among a list of Canadian politicians who’ve been blacklisted from setting foot in Russia.

In a statement, Duncan says he takes the ban as “a badge of honour” from a “evil and heartless dictator” – Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry MP learned his name was on the Russian foreign ministry list shortly after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Parliament Tuesday.

There are more than 300 names on the list, most of those MPs. It includes Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Defence Minister Anita Anand and Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly.

Duncan says he stands with his colleagues in pushing back against “this lawful and inhumane aggression” as Russia wages war against Ukraine, now into its third week.
