Update 12:58 p.m. Thursday: Body found in burnt South Glengarry home

GLEN GORDON – Provincial police say they are unable to locate one person after a house fire in South Glengarry late Tuesday night.

SD&G OPP say the fire started around 11 p.m. at a home on Concession Road 4 where South Glengarry firefighters were fighting the fire which was fully engulfed.

“One person remains unaccounted for at this time. The fire was extinguished and remains under investigation,” the OPP said in a news release.

The SD&G OPP Crime Unit, the OPP Forensic Identification Unit and the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) are investigating to determine the cause.

The OFM is usually called in when there are deaths, serious injuries, suspected arson or a large dollar loss as the result of a fire.

It was the second large house fire on Tuesday in SD&G.

A house burned on Elm Street in Ingleside earlier in the afternoon.

South Stormont firefighters from all four stations were on scene of the home around 3:20 p.m. where the structure was fully involved when they arrived.
