I’ve spent more time in Ottawa these past months and it’s been remarkable to see the reaction when I tell people that I’m from SDG and specifically Cornwall. Everyone has a connection to the region. Sometimes it’s a friend, family member or colleague who lived here. Often, they have visited the region for a curling bonspiel, cycling our bike paths, camping, winery and breweries and so many other reasons!
It’s been so remarkable and reaffirming to hear stories from folks about how impressed they were by everything our region had to offer and the friendly and welcoming people who they met while visiting.
This is the thing about Cornwall & SDG, we are resilient and productive, and people are taking notice. Word is spreading on how much we have to offer. It’s thanks to our entrepreneurship, our creativity, our dedication, and our love of this region that really makes us shine.
At a time when people are thinking local and seeking out new places to live or visit, Cornwall and SDG stands out as an exceptional place to live, work, and play and I couldn’t be more proud of us!
In the face of another difficult year, our resilience and innovation has become even more evident. We have come together to support one another and to ensure we keep moving forward and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. All these people who have eagerly told me about their connection to the region have told others and are excited to return.
Like any community, we’ve had our setbacks and challenges, but what we have to offer and the people in this region are unlike any other and I’m always so proud to share where I’m from. It’s been a big change being in Ottawa more and I miss Cornwall. But what never fails to make me smile is hearing about connections to our region and how much they loved it and I can always respond, I love it too.
