Email to the Editor: Cornwall parking fee hike a pocketbook ‘attack’ on caregivers

In this August 2019, file photo, a sign on Pitt Street in Cornwall, Ont. directs drivers to the nearest pay machine for parking. The price of parking is going up to $1.50 an hour starting in 2022. (Newswatch Group/Bill Kingston, File)

Cornwall wants to raise the parking fee from $1 per hour to $1.50. Do they think that our incomes go up that much? These people are acting like Liberals and will tax anything. The property taxes here are ridiculous and now they attack parking. How about a special permit that gives a discount for caregivers that need to park their vehicles while taking care of their parents on a daily basis. It would cost me almost $1,000 per year to take care of my mother. Cornwall should help the caregivers with special permits in a city full of seniors.
