CORNWALL – Newly announced COVID-19 restrictions involving public venues has forced organizers to cancel the final two nights of Holiday Sparkle.
The fundraising Christmas display at Lamoureux Park for the Agape Center, experienceCity Project and the United Way of SD&G, has been running Thursdays to Saturdays since Dec. 9.
But then weather and high winds cancelled two nights and now its the victim of provincially-mandated restrictions, where outdoor gatherings are limited to 25 people.
Event spokesman Kelly Bergeron says they are “beyond heartbroken” and it’s hard “not to feel crestfallen” after rebuilding the display after the wind storm.
“We just cannot envision being able to deliver a satisfactory event for our guests under these restrictions,” she said in a statement.
The Christmas domes in the park are staying in place and reservations are still be honoured considering they meet the current restrictions.
