SD&G – Some snow coupled with possible freezing rain is expected to hit SD&G tonight and continue into the Monday morning commute.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement this morning (Sunday) calling for 4-8 centimeters (1.6-3.1 inches) of snow as a low pressure system tracks east across the Great Lakes.
It will start as snow tonight, then change to freezing rain early Monday morning before switching over to rain by Monday afternoon.
Areas of northern SD&G – Winchester, Newington, Maxville and Alexandria – already have a freezing rain warning in effect for tonight with slightly more snow accumulation expected in the order of 5-10 centimeters (2-4 inches).
The weather agency says drivers should be prepared for “hazardous travel conditions” due to the ice buildup.
