PRESCOTT – Provincial police have laid additional charges against a man from the GTA after a “lengthy and complex” online dating fraud investigation.
Grenville County OPP announced today (Nov. 16) that, following a secondary investigation by several federal agencies, 35-year-old Nosa Oriakhi is facing 51 charges including 15 counts of identify theft and 18 counts of possessing credit card data.
Oriakhi – who had been from North York and now lives in Etobicoke according to police – had previously been charged with one count of fraud over $5,000 in October 2019, shortly after the alleged victim contacted police.
Police said at the time the perpetrator would collect money from the victim in person and the victim was taken for a “substantial amount” of money.
Oriahki was last in a Brockville court on Nov. 9 on his original charge. Police say he is being kept in jail following a recent court appearance.
