CORNWALL/AKWESASNE – Police have determined a boat found drifting near the North Channel Bridge (Three Nations Bridge) last week did not have anyone on board.

The aluminum boat with an outboard motor was reported to Cornwall Police Service last Wednesday (Oct. 2) and prompted a water search by a number of agencies along the St. Lawrence River between Cornwall and Cornwall Island.

The search was called off the next day after nothing was found.

As of today (Oct. 26), the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service and Cornwall Police Service have determined there was nobody on the boat.

“Police believe the boat did not have any occupants at the time it became adrift and any individuals believed to be associated to the boat have been accounted for,” CPS spokesperson Stephanie MacRae told Cornwall Newswatch.

“The CPS would like to thank the public for their assistance with this investigation,” she added.
