CORNWALL – A driver from Akwesasne is facing two charges after a car plowed into the toll booth at the north end of the Seaway International Bridge Monday night.

City police told Cornwall Newswatch the crash happened around 11 p.m. Monday (Sept. 27) when the car smashed into the building near Brookdale Avenue and Water Street.

A picture posted to social media appears to show a dark grey four-door sedan with the front end mangled and the steering wheel air bag deployed.

A 31-year-old woman from Akwesasne was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and failing to comply with a police officer’s demand.

The woman was not seriously hurt and police say, despite the severity of the crash, there is no report of anyone in the toll booth at the time or any injuries to anyone other than the accused.
