ALEXANDRIA – The head of Glengarry Memorial Hospital is leaving for a new job.

In an announcement Thursday, the hospital says President and CEO Michael Cohen’s last day will be Friday, Oct. 29, 2021.

Cohen is taking at position at Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital.

The hospital’s board of directors says a search is underway for a replacement.

In a statement, board chairman Frank Wetering says Cohen has “worked to oversee improvements in the care delivered to our patients, attended to urgent infrastructure issues, united the image of our organization in the community and kept the hospital in an excellent financial position.”

Cohen was hired at Glengarry Memorial Hospital in July 2018 after spending 16 years at Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa. He took over after CEO Linda Morrow retired.

Cohen’s salary was $124,309 in 2020, according to the Ontario Public Salary Disclosure.
