SDSG – The New Democrats will have a construction worker from the Ottawa area as their candidate in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry in the upcoming federal election.

Trevor Kennedy is the acclaimed candidate in SDSG, the local riding association announced on social media Saturday.

“Trevor, from the Ottawa region, is a construction worker with plans to begin trade school this fall. Trevor has a passion for workers rights and the vision of the NDP,” the association says.

There had been a local candidate but they could not complete the vetting process in time for the Elections Canada cutoff date, according to the social media post.

Kennedy will run against incumbent Conservative Eric Duncan, Liberal Denis Moquin, Green Dr. Jeanie Warnock and the PPC’s David Anber.

The federal election is three weeks from today (Monday, Sept. 20).
