Earthquake shakes Ingleside area

INGLESIDE – Residents in South Stormont felt an earthquake Wednesday night.

The magnitude 2.8 quake rumbled through the area around 7:30 p.m.

The epicenter was 5.5 kilometers beneath the bed of the St. Lawrence River, southeast of the Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary.

The U.S. Geological Survey has over 100 reports of people who felt the quake as of 9:10 p.m. Wednesday night.
