Boil water advisory for Ingleside

INGLESIDE – People in Ingleside are being told to boil their tap water before drinking it due to an earlier problem with municipal water system.

The township says there was “low water pressure in the drinking water system” earlier today.

South Stormont spokesman Chris Hemond told Cornwall Newswatch the public works director indicated it was faulty equipment after people reported having no water.

“Because there was low pressure for a short time, we issued a boil water advisory to ensure there is no contamination,” Hemond said in an email to Newswatch.

Residents should bring their water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, once it’s cooled again.

The boil water advisory is in effect until further notice.

South Stormont says its working with the Eastern Ontario Health Unit to monitor the water quality and arrange a timeline for further testing.
