CORNWALL – A Montreal film production company shot scenes in downtown Cornwall for an upcoming Netflix movie.

Local residents couldn’t miss the caravan of large trucks stretched along the south side of Montreal Road and parked at the Cornwall Civic Complex Monday morning.

A spokesperson for Muse Entertainment told Cornwall Newswatch they were shooting for one day in a downtown store.

The spokesperson, who asked not to be named, says they were “supposed to shoot scenes near the river” and other outdoor locations but those were cut with the cloudy, rainy day and the temperature just above freezing. Most of the movie had been shot in Montreal, they explained.

Filming was taking place inside 149 Montreal Road, next to Bongia Smoking Accessories, the front window covered by a black curtain. A few doors down, 141 Montreal Road was being used for crew support.

Crew members could be seen carrying makeup cases and other articles in and out of the side entrance at the back of 149 Montreal Road. Two pop-up tents were at the back of the building where some of the staff were under umbrellas in the alleyway.

The studio representative noted they were bringing business to the city, as the 85-member production crew stayed the night at two hotels, plus they ordered local takeout and rented the parking spaces from the city.

The film is purported to be a Christmas-themed romantic comedy called “Single All The Way.” A release date is not known.

An email to Netflix media relations requesting comment for this story was not returned.
