CORNWALL – A Cornwall man, accused of an incestuous relationship with his adult daughter, has died before his trial, Cornwall Newswatch has learned.

The 55-year-old man had been scheduled for a four day trial by a judge in late September but the proceeding was cancelled. It was rescheduled to start next week (Feb. 16-19, 2021).

However, the accused died at his home in early December.

He had been charged in October 2018 with two counts each of sexual assault and incest.

Police say the victim was 31 years old at the time of the alleged assaults, which were said to have happened twice in December 2017.

With no one to prosecute, the court file is considered “completed.”
