HARMONY – What appeared to be a completely random knife attack by a man on a bicycle after a woman in a car stopped on a rural road in North Dundas last summer was made up, provincial police have learned.
SD&G O.P.P. have now charged a 50-year-old woman from Russell Township with public mischief. She’s accused of providing initial information “that was deemed falsely misleading.”
There was a large scale manhunt in September, that included appeals through the media and a composite sketch of the supposed suspect after a woman said she was attacked on Spruce Drive, north of Winchester.
The woman was treated at hospital for a stab wound but recovered from her injury.
“It (the injury) was self-inflicted,” Const. Tylor Copeland told Cornwall Newswatch Thursday.
Copeland added that there is no suspect, confirming that the composite sketch is a fabrication and they are not looking for anybody.
The woman will appear in a Cornwall court March 2.
