Patchy freezing rain possible in SD&G

Update 8:31 p.m. Saturday: The freezing rain warning for Maxville and Alexandria has ended. All other advisories have also ended.

SD&G – Some areas of SD&G are under weather advisories while northeastern portions are under a freezing rain warning today (Saturday).

Environment Canada issued the bulletins just before 11 a.m. and says a “messy mix” of snow, ice pellets and a period of freezing rain will come this afternoon and tonight for Maxville and Alexandria.

There is the possibility of up to 4 centimeters (1.6 inches) of snow and ice pellets and up to 2 millimeters (0.07 inches) of ice from several hours of freezing rain.

Further south and west in places like Winchester, Newington, Cornwall and Lancaster, there is an advisory for a brief period of freezing rain this afternoon before changing to rain tonight.
