HARMONY – Provincial police are looking for a suspect after a woman was stabbed on Spruce Drive, north of Winchester, Thursday night.

SD&G O.P.P. say a man knifed the woman in a random attack before taking off on a red bicycle.

Const. Tylor Copeland says the woman was in a car and stopped for some reason on the rural township road for the suspect who was on foot. “(At this point) we don’t know why she stopped,” Copeland told Cornwall Newswatch.

It’s believed the bicycle was stashed nearby.

O.P.P. did an extensive search of the area – about 10 kilometers north of Winchester – with a police dog, helicopter and the Emergency Response Team but couldn’t find him.

The suspect is described as white, in his 50s, with a buzz cut and facial hair. He was wearing blue Converse sneakers and a blue t-shirt.

Police believe he may have been on Ormond Road, Marionville Road or County Road 31 in the Winchester area after the attack around 6 p.m. Thursday.

If you have any information, call your local police department.

The victim was treated at hospital and is expected to recover. She’s in stable condition, Copeland said.
