SD&G – Four drivers were charged with failing to move over for an emergency vehicle as part of a one day traffic blitz on Highway 401 in South Stormont and South Dundas.

SD&G O.P.P. and O.P.P. Highway Safety Division Unit officers laid a total of 32 charges including the four for failing to move over under the Highway Traffic Act.

Almost half of the tickets (14) were for speeding.

The blitz was held the day after Labour Day (Sept. 8).

The O.P.P. says they have “noticed a decrease in this driving infraction (move over) over the last few years.”

The fine for not moving over is between $490 and $2,000 plus three demerit points.
