CORNWALL – The deputy chief of Cornwall Fire Services – Jeff Weber – has been named the city’s new fire chief.

Weber was hired in March 2019 as the city’s deputy chief, coming from Barrie where he held a similar position.

“Chief Weber has shown leadership within our fire department, and as a member of the senior team, especially as the city responded to the COVID-19 pandemic,” CAO Maureen Adams said in a prepared statement Friday.

Weber takes over for Pierre Voisine who left earlier this year to take a chief’s position with his home municipality of Clarence-Rockland.

Weber has been acting chief since June.
