SDSG – Local MP Eric Duncan has been named to a management position within Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole’s government.

Duncan will be the coordinator for question period in the Leadership Team, which is responsible for the day to day operations of the Conservative Caucus.

β€œIt is an honour and something that came as quite a surprise,” Duncan said in a prepared statement Wednesday afternoon.

O’Toole also named Manitoba MP Candice Bergen as the new deputy Conservative Party leader.

Owen Sound area MP Alex Ruff was named deputy opposition whip – a position held early in the career of Duncan’s predecessor, Guy Lauzon.

The rest of the shadow cabinet will be announced next week.

As for Duncan, this will be the first appointment for the freshman Member of Parliament since his election in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry in October 2019.

Duncan backed O’Toole in the Conservative leadership race.
