CORNWALL – A Cornwall contest to give an aspiring small business a boost and a spot in the downtown is running again this year.

The Downtown Business Improvement Area launched Win This Space this week with applications being taken until Sept. 4.

The winner receives $1,000 a month for a year to cover their rent or lease payments – usually seen as one of the largest overhead expenses for a fledgling business.

“As many businesses are beginning to re-open their storefronts (after closures due to COVID-19) and activity returns to the downtown, it is a crucial time for our business community to receive the support it need to continue to grow and prosper,” the DBIA said in a statement.

This is the third year for the contest.

Last year’s winner was Love and Lee Bridal Boutique.
