CORNWALL – Scammers are at it again in the Cornwall area, this time phoning you up pretending to be the Cornwall Police Service.
Police say the con artists are calling residents, claiming their Social Insurance Number has been blocked or compromised.
In order to clear the problem up, all you have to do is run out and buy some gift cards and provide the PIN for the cards to the person on the phone, who’s posing as a Cornwall police employee.
In other cases, they’re also pretending to be working for Service Canada or the Canada Revenue Agency.
The real police say the best thing to do is just hang up and don’t always trust what your call display shows.
