CORNWALL – A young boy in the Riverdale neighbourhood of Cornwall, at home due to the physical distancing rules during the coronavirus outbreak, got a special birthday parade Wednesday.

Brody Hamel is five years old today. His father, Shawn, works in the water and sewer department for the City of Cornwall.

From street sweepers to dump trucks, members of the City of Cornwall’s Municipal Works Division had a procession down Westmoreland Avenue Wednesday morning.

There were approximately 18 vehicles from pickup trucks to loaders to sidewalk clearing machines.

Brody was smiling ear to ear and was also handed an orange safety helmet to wear while the equipment motored down the street – the operators blowing horns and waving.

The event also brought some neighbours out on their front lawns to video and take pictures of the parade.
