EASTERN ONTARIO – The region’s medical officer of health says a service by the Cornwall-SDG Paramedic Services has been very useful.
The Community Paramedic Program, announced on March 24, has been testing higher-risk and vulnerable people in their homes for the coronavirus.
As of this week, paramedics have tested 60 people, Dr. Paul Roumeliotis shared during a conference call.
“That’s a great service. It has been very useful. I want to go on record on thanking our EMS partners for doing that,” Roumeliotis said.
He added that paramedics will also be helping out at testing and assessment centers.
Cornwall-SDG Paramedic Services Chief Bill Lister will be holding a conference call with media this afternoon (April 3) to further lay out what EMS workers are doing and “how residents…will be asked to adapt.”
