WINCHESTER – A coronavirus assessment center will open in Winchester at noon on Wednesday.
The center is in the Lions Club hall at 515 Albert Street and is being run weekdays from noon to 6 p.m. by the Winchester District Memorial Hospital in conjunction with the Eastern Ontario Health Unit.
It’s meant to take pressure off local emergency rooms so the ERs can focus on urgent care.
In order to use the center, you have to have COVID-19 symptoms like a fever or worsening cough and be referred by your doctor or Telehealth Ontario (1-866-797-0000). You should also use the Ontario self-assessment tool to figure out what to do.
People who come to the center will be assessed but it’s not a guarantee you’ll get a nasal swab test.
