CORNWALL – The quarantine site at Cornwall’s Nav Center will be an “isolated facility” with its own ventilation system.
That’s according to a news release from the Eastern Ontario Health Unit this afternoon (Monday) after local Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Paul Roumeliotis, toured the Montreal Road facility Sunday.
“The facility is separated from the rest of the public Nav Center area and is accessible only by an indoor bridge and underground tunnel that are closed to the public,” the release said.
There is also a medical clinic being set up on site, the health unit explained.
People visiting the Nav Center will not be affected and “are not at risk as there will be no access to the quarantine site or individuals,” the EOHU said.
While the risk of people repatriated from the cruise ship Diamond Princess off the coast of Japan is low, the EOHU says its working with local health care partners to plan for safe transportation and treatment in the event a person requires hospitalization.
