CORNWALL – A Cornwall man is facing a half dozen charges after an alleged scuffle with city police on New Year’s Eve.
The Cornwall Police Service says it was investigating an unrelated matter when one of its officers was assaulted and the assailant tried to take the officer’s gun.
After being arrested, the man was further accused of assaulting a stranger and damaging a door at the Cornwall Community Hospital on Thursday (Jan. 2).
A 18-year-old man is charged with assaulting police, disarming police, assault, mischief and two counts of breach of youth probation for failing to keep the peace.
While he is legally an adult, his name was not released because the breach of probation charges are connected to a case when the man was a minor.
