CORNWALL – A Quebec man served some jail time this year for bringing a handgun to a Cornwall house party on Alguire Street in April 2018.

Logan Munro, 23, pleaded guilty to assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose during a court appearance on March 6, 2019.

For the assault with a weapon charge, Munro was ordered to serve 90 days in jail on weekends. For the possession charge, he was given an additional conditional sentence for one year.

Munro also has to submit a DNA sample and is under a weapons prohibition for 10 years.

Charges of threats, pointing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and having a firearm in a vehicle were withdrawn by the Crown.

He will be on probation for three years. The conditional sentence order was transferred to his home province of Quebec, records show. Munro lives in the West Island community of Pierrefonds.

City police were called to the home in the neighbourhood southwest of Tollgate Road and Brookdale Avenue on April 1, 2018 after a man pointed a handgun at a stranger.
