Public high school teachers vote to strike

TORONTO – Public high school teachers have voted overwhelming to strike to back contract demands.

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation says full-time and occasional teachers voted 95.5 per cent in favour of strike action. Education workers voted 92 per cent to strike.

The OSSTF is in a legal strike position but has not given the required five days notice of a walkout.

Bargaining talks continue today (Monday).

Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce has called for both sides to negotiate with the help of a mediator.
