CORNWALL – A South Stormont man accused of setting a pickup truck on fire behind a Cornwall bar this summer will be tried by a jury of his peers.

Cody Shaw, 29, of Lunenburg was charged with arson in June after the pickup behind Bill’s Sports Bar on Thirteenth Street was a ball of flames around 3 a.m. on Sunday, June 2.

Shaw’s lawyer, Bill Wade, asked for a trial by judge and jury during a court appearance Thursday (Nov. 14).

The case will be heard again next month when the court will assign dates for the trial.

The maximum prison sentence for a person convicted of arson with damage to property is 14 years.
