Tragic end to search for South Stormont woman

BONVILLE – An extensive search for a woman, missing from South Stormont since Thursday, has ended in tragedy.

An O.P.P. helicopter and the O.P.P. Emergency Response Team discovered the body of 30-year-old Tannis Wiebe today (Saturday).

She was last seen near Myers Road, near Bonville, around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Initially, police thought that she may have been heading to Calgary, where she was originally from and went to high school, according to her Facebook page.

But she didn’t go far, as her body was found at a location in South Stormont, Const. Tylor Copeland told Cornwall Newswatch.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death but foul play if not suspected, police said.

An investigation continues with the O.P.P. Forensic Identification Services Unit and the Office of the Chief Coroner with assistance of the SD&G O.P.P. Crime Unit.
