MORRISBURG – While the blackface scandal continues to dog Liberal leader Justin Trudeau, the local Liberal party candidate has had several of her election signs vandalized overnight.

Signs for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry candidate Heather Megill were either covered to mimic blackface or had other graffiti or what appeared to be paintball markings.

Trudeau had received backlash and apologized for appearing in brownface during a 2001 theme party. The photo was released by Time magazine. Two more instances of brownface or blackface came to light, one in a photo released by Global News.

Megill told the Morrisburg Leader that the vandalism to her signs was “disappointing” and “disturbing.”

SD&G O.P.P. Cont. Tylor Copeland told Cornwall Newswatch, as of 12:20 p.m., there had been no police involvement in the vandalism and no report had been filed.
