SMITHS FALLS, Ont. – Provincial police officers across Eastern Ontario laid just shy of 1,900 charges during the Labour Day weekend.
Most of those (1,280) were for speeding, followed by other hazardous driving violations (277), liquor and seat belts (65 each) and distracted driving (38).
O.P.P. East Region Insp. Paul Bedard says impaired and distracted driving continue to be a “major concern.”
Distracted driving was the focus theme for the O.P.P. this past weekend.
