BAINSVILLE – The same smuggling narrative has played out again on the St. Lawrence River – speeding boat with no lights, pickup truck on the shoreline, bags of contraband tobacco.
This time officers seized 40 bags – 703 kilograms (1,549 pounds) of tobacco.
The seizure by the Cornwall Regional Task Force was made July 7 but RCMP only released details today (July 23).
A 27-year-old man and a 33-year-old man – both from Quebec – have been charged under the Excise Act.
