Cornwall Electric rates to increase 2%

CORNWALL – Customers on Cornwall Electric will have to shell out a few extra dollars for electricity this year.

The utility has announced a 2 per cent rate increase, which will take effect July 1.

For a residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt hours per month, it will mean $1.32 more on their monthly bill.

Rates went up one per cent last year and 2.5 per cent in 2017.

Cornwall Electric has 24,800 customers in Cornwall, South Glengarry, South Stormont and Cornwall Island.
