CORNWALL – A man in his 20s is in custody after an apparent stabbing on Louisa Street Thursday night.

Cornwall Police Service spokesman Stephanie MacRae told Cornwall Newswatch officers were called around 10:30 p.m. for a weapons complaint.

MacRae says two Cornwall men in their 20s, who knew each other, got into a fight outside a home in the 100 block of Louisa.

“During the altercation, the 25-year-old accused man assaulted the 24-year-old victim, using an edged weapon,” she said.

The 24-year-old victim is in hospital with serious injuries.

MacRae couldn’t say what started the fight because they are still in the early stages of the investigation.

The name of the accused and charges are expected to be released “pending further investigation” today (Friday).
