Editor’s note: This story has been corrected from an earlier version to clarify that the tractor-trailer lost its fifth wheel, the connector between the trailer and the truck. The Cornwall Police Service had referred to the truck losing a wheel.

CORNWALL – A truck making a delivery to Giant Tiger on Sydney Street ran into trouble Friday morning as it lost one of its wheels.

The mishap happened just before 9 a.m.

Cornwall Police Service spokesman Stephanie MacRae says the truck was attempting to back into the loading dock when it lost a wheel (the fifth wheel connector between the truck and trailer), which led to partially blocking traffic on Sydney Street.

A section of Sydney, north of Sixth Street, was down to one lane for a time.

“No vehicles or objects were struck by the tractor-trailer and no one was injured,” MacRae said.

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation was also on site to help.

No charges were laid.
