CORNWALL – A Long Sault teenager has been charged with dangerous driving in connection to last month’s spectacular crash at Brookdale Avenue and Ninth Street.
Police allege the 17-year-old was behind the wheel of a black Volkswagen Jetta, which witnesses say became airborne before striking the base of a traffic light pole on the northwest corner of Brookdale and Ninth.
The crash levelled the pole and sent car parts and debris several meters across the intersection.
Two passengers were treated at hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
On Monday (March 25), the young person went to the police station and was formally arrested, charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, and released to appear in a Cornwall court at a later date.
His name is not being released because he’s a minor.
